Big Jeers and a tiny little Cheer at the End

ESPN2 - You can KISS MY GRITS!

Another rant. But only because Reenie said she misses my rants, and since I have a big gripe to get off my chest, here goes...

Tennis (as it applies to the Australian Open going on now).

You all know by now that I love to watch tennis. I do not have the Tennis Channel in my cable line-up, so I have to rely on ESPN2 for coverage of it. They seem to have quite a few hours a day of coverage, however, that's where the good news ends. Most of their hours of televised tennis matches are between 10 or 11 p.m. and going all night long. While good doo-bees are in BED, for pete's sake! I know I am. Not sleeping, mind you, but trying to sleep.

As an example, take today. Or rather last night and today. Here it is THE WEEKEND when there are more viewers than normally might watch tennis available. So, the tennis started last night at 9 p.m. By that time I am either IN my bed or heading up the stairs for bed. But I stayed here, after Paul shuffled off upstairs, and watched ESPN2 and the tennis. It was a match between two men, NOT my favorite (I like the women better) and these particular two men I don't particularly like either, Djokovic (below right) and Wawrinka (below left). Djokovic is too full of himself for my liking, and the other guy is just not pleasant to look at, period. (I also read that Stan Wawrinka left his wife and child after one year to pay more attention to his tennis...'nuf said.)

OK...it's the only match they are showing, so I watch. By 10:15 I have had it and went up to bed. When I got up this morning and came down and put on TV, that match was playing, and it was near the end of their 5-hour match. So I watched til the end which was around 10 or so. At 11 a.m. coverage was supposed to begin for today and go until 3. Good, I got all ready hoping the women might be on, or at least some other men... but noooooo, ESPN2 in their non-wisdom, chose to replay that same 5-hour match over and here it is 3 o'clock now and it just finished up. No I did not watch it AGAIN. So I hardly got any tennis today.

Or this weekend.

And I have seen no women's matches either. Apart from one during the week one day.

Grrrr....

So if anyone from the ESPN2 channel is reading my blog right now (yeah right), you can just kiss my grits, like I said before, because I've just about HAD it with you all.

There.

I feel a little better. And no I'm not going to tape it. I don't know how in the first place and secondly when would I set it for? They never tell you who is playing when. The bums.

So I watched my President get sworn in to his SECOND TERM AS PRESIDENT and that gave me a smile for a while.

Jeers (and a small cheer),

Bex

P.S. Just for the record, I am rooting for Maria Sharapova and for nobody in the men's draw - it'll be between Djokovic and Federer in the end and I cannot stand either one of those guys.

"The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog...

He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world...

When all other friends desert, he remains."
