the white couch

Our kids are going the various stages of grief. First it was denial with some whiny desperate anger thrown in:

We are not getting rid of the white couch! No! I don't hear you. We love this couch. It's not going.

Now they've moved on to bargaining:

We could put the couch in the hallway.

We could put the couch in David's room.

We could keep the cushions.

Hopefully, we can stop there because we said yes to keeping the cushions up in David's pillow corner. The couch, if you haven't seen it, is atrocious. It used to be white. Now it is kind of gray with ink stains and other stains of unknown origin. It is comfy, but only for the few minutes before the pillows fall out of position. It needs constant tending. We bought it in '94 for 300.00 at a discount furniture store. I remember because it was the most expensive thing we had ever bought, but it is time. It is really really time.
