field day is fun

Field day was wonderful as always. I'm sure I've written before about our elementary school does Field day 2.0, to my great pleasure. You remember the old field day--sack races, three-legged races, egg toss, and, of course, tug-of-war. It was all about competition, though granted some of it was silly competition. Our new improved field day eliminates the competition, ups the silly, and everyone gets a lot of exercise and has a fabulous time.

We have stations all around a huge field. The stations are things like get on a hippity hop ball and race your buddy around a cone. I was in charge of that station. Many of the bigger kids immediately fell off their ball. Kids cheered each other on or didn't notice who came in first. Everyone got marked off that they'd done it and on they went to the oreo station (balance an oreo on your forehead and move it to your mouth no handed) or bubble blowing, tattoos, or hula hooping.

My station was near the speakers playing pop music, so I got to rock out, to the amusement of the kids in my line.

I only had one kid give me attitude, no crying, and lots and lots of fun. Of course, by the time we'd packed up, I was so dehydrated and exhausted that I couldn't find my car (I found it 45 minutes later and after a brownie and a large glass of water), but otherwise, another excellent Field Day.
