Obviously you are enjoying this. And I never forget.

How are the Dodgers doing?

No, not at all! We're all so very concerned.

C'mon B&G - let's put it all behind. There have been worse collapses in college football history. My statisticians are looking them up, but I'm sure they exist.

Well I'm thinking that UM can beat RBESFL(or whatever we're calling Fat Charlie's boys these days)

I'm not cheering against UM, I am one of the biffest ND haters ever, but Lloyd has to go if he can't win this week. I thought that last Oregon touchdown before halftime warranted a halftime firing...If they are getting blown out at the half by an ND team that can't score on offense then he should be gone!

oh and Navy may be favored going into the land of the irish come november

  2. Man evolved from apes.

(I bet Dewey is planning his family's first-ever vacation trip to that new creationist museum this year.)

Dickie you need some education about how jinxes work.

Okay - I'm going to go bury my head in the sand again. This sucks.

Can I be a fly on your living room wall this Saturday, Lights and B&G?

I can't fully express how stoked I am to be friends with a married couple who cheer for ND and Michigan, both winless going into next week. It's like some rare solar eclipse.

Actually, it's more rare: Never before have both teams started 0-2 in the same season.

So what happens in the B&G/Lights household? Do they watch in separate rooms? What happens when one of them is 0-3? Marriages have dissolved for far less.

The reporter in me seriously wants to buy a ticket to Seattle and find out. I may have to sell your contact info to the Times or the PI.

It's a difficult decision -- which team does one who hates both root against more?

In a perfect world, both teams would go 0-12, but I guess this is the Gods' way of making sure even the most demonized of all college football teams get a victory.

Hopefully Michigan wins, b/c I know they'll beat my alma mater. That way, at least there's still a chance ND can go winless.

I really hope B&G and Lights don't get divorced over this...granted it should matter a lot less to B&G since its not his undergrad.

Thanks for helping me out with this statement Dickie:
Racist Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Loser owns Navy
The great jinxer has spoken!!

RFTBL doesn't own anyone this year. Normally they beat up on Navy by running the ball. They don't know how to do that this year, which is why their offense, led by fat charlie, can't score touchdowns, which is why UM will beat them on Saturday, and Navy will beat them in front of TD Jesus this year...

It should, but it doesn't.

Navy will beat them in front of TD Jesus this year

Wow, a bold statement. I don't think anyone would call you a huge jinx since that outcome's so improbable, but you would definitely earn a cabinet post on B&G's newly elected Jinx administration.

Maybe Nameless could stand in for Dickie and write posts about his life since he can't be bothered. That could be pretty entertaining . . .
30 Nameless
1:51 pm, Oct 3, 2007 PDT
Guess I could, but since I've been gone for a while I'm not sure I know Dickie's life like I did. I can tell you, though, that he's got this beard thing going on and it surprises me every time I see him. He started growing it while he was visiting me in Mexico and apparently hasn't stopped. I hardly recognized him when he picked me up from the airport and last night I spent about 40 minutes grooming it for him because it was, like his humor, spotty.

Also, I know he's in court today listening to a bunch of California's more privileged residents who think injustice is their City Council passing some water park project without all of their approval. It's all relative, I know, and it keeps Dickie employed so I am grateful for that. But Jesus Christ, can we get some perspective here? Residents of the bordering city don't take their kids to the eye doctor for the corrective lenses they need to see the chalk board clearly because they just can't afford glasses and rent. Of course you won't read about that in the newspaper...

And, while the rest of the nation is enjoying beautiful fall weather, desert temperatures remain in the high 90s. Today I rode Dickie's ridiculously tall bike to the bank and back and, granted, I'm grossly out of shape, but I almost passed the fuck out on a stretch of barren cactus road. I know Dickie will argue that it's much cooler now than a month ago, and he's right. But that just shows how absurd this place is. Really? This heat in October? So obnoxious.

Which leads me to my next point: as I've mentioned I am currently unemployed and lonely in Dickie's apartment. Anyone have any extra sick days they'd like to cash in to come to SoCal for a long weekend? Lights and B&G I'm mostly looking in your direction as I hear it's already raining in Washington and Alaska flies direct from Seattle to Palm Springs. I'm sure between the three of us can convince Dickie to blow off the bloated readers and their precious water project for a couple of days and there's a deliciously smoky bottle of tequila here that would make for some mighty fine Cadillac margaritas, poolside.

I think baby Malea could use sunshine too. It's supposed to be good for an infant's early development, or some shit like that.

I have to save up my vacation days for Mexico in November. I hate have limited vacation days. Why can't I have limited days that I am allowed to work instead?

Make Dickie write about the absurdity of covering stupid stories when real stories are going on next door. Guilt is fun for rich people.

Sick days Lights, sick days. Why you goin to Mexico?

Dickie gets to cover a PBS convention today where Judy Woodruff and Tavis Smiley will speak. Vicariously, that's awesome. But still depressing because I'm home watching E! The remote control has officially turned against me. So has all reasonable society.

E! reports Lindsay Lohan is thinking about going to NYU after she gets out of rehab. WTF? I've seen some of her hacked emails, she's better suited to learn from the children's story hour at a public library than an IVY League.

Also, a man's fridge is a girl's chilled pit of despair. I was a little taken aback with how many packets of hot dogs Dickie had in the freezer. And now I'm shocked as hell at just how many of them I've eaten. The only reason I stopped is because there is no more mustard. Talk about guilt.

Just FYI, NYU is not Ivy league. NYU has a lot in common with USC (minus football, but better neighborhood). Not that hard to get into (above average student), but if your 'rents have money then all they check is your pulse.

Reminiscent of an annoying high school morning, here's a pop quiz:

What had Dickie so pissed off yesterday that the only words he could mutter for 45 minutes were "fuck" and "you?"

A. Geriatric drivers who float in and out of lanes at 17 miles under the speed limit.

B. California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez's spending $5,149 on a "meeting" at a French wine cellar.

C. Overly aggressive ghosts prohibiting him from getting the banana on level 3 of Ms. PacMan.

D. An absent-minded editor whose failure to publish a photo resulted in a series of early-morning phone calls from an angry resident with nothing else to do.
