This is a draft but I need to start getting the word out.

MEMORIAL FOR STU

An afternoon of remembering and honor Stu Shiffman will take place on Sunday, February 15 from noon to 3 pm. Stu's birthday is February 12. He would have been 61 years old.

The event will be held at the Lake City Community Center. There is parking available and several buses stop at the Lake City/125th intersection. The community center is located at 12531 28th Avenue NE in North Seattle, right next to the public library and the area when the Farmer's market is held.

The LCCC website is http://lccommunitycenter.org. It is about 10 minutes from Andi's apartment. For once, we don't have to worry about Andi getting somewhere on time.

There will be music playing, pictures hanging, friends remembering. What we want most of all is to remember and we ask that anyone who has a special memory of Stu, of meeting him, or his artwork, or his humor, or his enthusiasm, or, well, of Stu, to share it with the rest of us. If you cannot attend, and want to write something down for someone to read at the memorial, please PLEASE do that.

If you have artwork or fanzines you think you'd like to display (but get back at the end of the day) please get in touch. We would like that too.

There will be food and beverages. We are asking that folks bring finger food if possible. that means nibbles, little tarts, roll-ups, cookies, nuts and berries, fruit, appetizer type thingies to share. We will supply soda, non-fizzy drinks of all kinds, hot tea and coffee. If you make something with, you know, The Usual, (nuts, gluten) please let us know. There are refrigerators available.

We will supply plates, napkins, forks, cups (unless you have a stash and want to donate it.)

Of course this is all DIY, so if you wish to help set up or tear down, please let us know. We will accept donations to offset the cost of renting the space or to donate to Treehouse in Stu’s honor and memory.

You do not have to bring a thing. You may come away with something, as we are hoping to offer a small potlatch of interesting belongings of Stu's that people might enjoy and cherish. (bring a tote bag?)

Bring tissues. Bring your best memories. Bring your funniest stories and your sweetest reminiscences. Bring your good glasses so you can see the artwork.

Fittingly, February 15 is the birthday of Susan B Anthony, Matt Groening, Galileo, and Miep Gies, February 12, Stu’s birthday was shared by Charles Darwin and Abraham Lincoln.
