2005-12-17 12:19 AM My nominee for Person of the Year The National Guardsmen and Guardswomen in Afghanistan/Iraq, particularly those serving their second or higher rotation over there.
These are people whose lives are being torn apart...or brought to an unnatural conclusion...all on our behalf, at great risk to their careers, their families, indeed their lives. I don't support the war...I strongly think it's been a cluster-f#(% from the beginning at a political and strategic level. But that doesn't mean I don't pray for and support all the people over there as much as I can. Most of them are between 18 and 24--a time when they should be sowing some wild oats and instead are dodging sniper fire and trying to keep peace and not make our occupation seem like something evil. I just wish there was a way we could responsibly bring them home as soon as possible...without igniting a powder keg of civil war. Blessings on all those who serve...with honor, dignity, courage, and compassion. Come home soon! Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
