2006-08-09 11:32 AM In Honor of National Underwear Day....a Meme. Today, in case you didn't know it, is National Underwear Day...and in NYC and San Francisco, hunky and shapely skivies-only clad models will be passing out 4000 free pairs of boxer briefs, sports bras, etc. and providing changing booths so that folks can make the switch right away.
The sheer silliness of the event, which is clearly a publicity stunt by a certain online underwear company, is in fact, just the sort of frivolity we need for a brief moment (brief, get it?) of respite from bad news, the craziness of the end of the primary season in some parts of the country, and really high gas prices. SO another home grown meme....and some suggested answers... Would anyone else like to play?... 1. What product, interesting human condition, and/or entity needs its National _____________ Day? National Nail Rippers Day (for those of us who tear our nails off instead of biting or clipping them) National Lactose-Free Day (where those of us who are lactose intolerant are spared you normal people eating ice cream in front of us) 2. Who would the spokesperson be? Nail Rippers--Jack Black...we'll call him "Black the Ripper" and play off the irony. Lactose-Free Day--Pamela Anderson 3. We've all heard the hoary old joke about Mother's Day and Father's Day and how every day is "Children's Day." But let's say we establish a National Children's Day. All of our days have rituals--Roses on Mother's Day, parades on Martin Luther King and Thanksgving Days, ect. What rituals should we adopt to commemorate Children's Day? The Children's Day Parade, where national dignitaries will have to hold hands and skip down the street, or at least jumprope their way... A concert of nursery rhymes on the National Mall, with no washed up C-List celeb singers over the age of 16 allowed. 4. Many people know about the unofficial celebrations of "Gay Days" at Disneyworld, which celebrated its 15th Anniversary this year (I went in '99). I'm wondering, what other groups need to create their special day at Disneyworld, where they can gather, wear the same colored t-shirt and know they are in a park joyfully filled with people just like them? Oil of Olay Days...for women and men who use the age defying elixer of facial beauty Clay Days...for the fans of Wallace and Grommit and Tim Burton's animation to provide mutual support and build a sense of community amidst the oppressive atmosphere of computer animation. 5. So it IS National Underwear Day, so.... briefs, boxers, boxer briefs, commando, underwire, sportsbra, pantyhose, girdle, granny panties, etc....What are you sporting today? Black CK boxer briefs Read/Post Comments (10) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
