No, a very good day.

There's a new Iron Maiden album out and England have won the cricket.

I wasn't going to have a journal. I started one on my website, but I decided it was too difficult to keep it up on a regular basis, so I let it become a rarely-updated writing journal. I think I'll keep it at that. So, if you're looking for me to talk about my writing or writing in any semi-serious way then my website is the place to look for it. However, my partner, Steph, got one of these journals today, so I had to have one too.

So, onto the more important things.

The new Iron Maiden album is called Dance of Death. Those of you who know me know that I've been an Iron Maiden fan for most of my life. Well, it's been three years, or close to, since the last Iron Maiden album and I've been suffering from withdrawal symptoms. So I went out at lunchtime today, the first moment I could, and bought the new album. It's now playing on my computer over the headphones, and I couldn't be happier. This may well be the best Iron Maiden album even. Stand out tracks so far are No More Lies, Montsegur and Paschendale. If you've ever enjoyed Iron Maiden, I would strongly recommend this album.

As far as cricket goes, well, England rarely win anything. I like cricket, but I wouldn't say I'm a passionate supporter of it. I'm not even particularly nationalistic. Nonetheless, I am English, which means I support the underdog, and in cricket, England are the perpetual underdogs. A celebration is in order, I think. A nice pint of cider tonight should do it.
