Database Question

So, I wasted this afternoon at work building a possibly unnecessary database, and I got stuck, so if anyone is good at Access, here is the question.

I've got a form that I'm using to enter data into one table. All well and good. At the end of the form I have a command button that opens a second form to enter data into a second table. Now, the reason I want to do this, is because I want there to be sets of data that are connected to each entry in the first table. I want the data entered into the second table to be automatically linked to the entries in the first table. Does that make any sense? Kind of like:

Table 1 Entry 1 linked to Table 2 Entry 1, Table 2 Entry 2, Table 2 Entry 3. Then Table 1 Entry 2 linked to Table 2 Entry 4, Table 2 Entry 5 and so on. And I want it to all happen automatically.

I know how I would do it manually. I would have drop down menu in the second form which looked up some unique identifier in the first table and entered that in the second table. But as this first table will become large very quickly, the menu would soon become unmanageable.

Anyone know how I can achieve the above automatically? Does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about?

Of course, I could go to the library and get an Access book out, but the point of the internet is to get other people to do your work for you, right?
