Today's writing lesson: Save work. Every line. Seriously, every line.

Being incredibly jealous of Steph, who got a nice new iBook called Campion just before Christmas, I managed to convince her that I couldn't write without one of my own. So at the weekend we bought me a partner for Campion. My iBook is called Amelia. They get on very well. We are very poor. I wonder why.

However, Word is incredibly unstable on our computers. Not sure if it's just because it's Word, or whether the version we have doesn't go too well with the OS on our macs or whether it just needs reinstalling, but it seems to crash about every half hour. Luckily, I'm learning to hit save every line I type. Not lost anything yet and crossing fingers. (Not easy to do while typing...)

What a difference writing something fun that you enjoy is. The current novel, started about 3 weeks ago, is now up to 23,000 words. On some of my other novels this could have taken months. Okay, I have more writing time now, as I work only part-time, but still, I don't think I've ever averaged so much so easily. I've even taken days off in the middle and kept up the average.

Of course, you'll all read it and tell me it's crap when it's done, but I don't care!

Discovered the disadvantage of working part time this week. It's called the pay cheque. Is that all!?! That's...that's, like, half of what I used to get. Jeez.
