I'm a web developer for NOVICA. I'm fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English and a little Spanish. I can count in Korean and have numerous language and linguistics books. I'm living within walking distance of CSUN where I share an apartment with my girlfriend and 2 cats. I'm happy. I write sporadically (I really need to finish that short story), with every intention of making a living at it at an undisclosed point in the future. I taught physics at Emperor's College Winter Term 2008. I love games and stories and music and computers and science and "and." I drink my coffee 100% black 80% of the time and 80% black 20% of the time. Also, there are other things. 7332 42

Considerably Happier than I was Before I Watched Harry Potter...

Reading and Watching

I made a feeble attempt to update my What I'm Reading page. My reading recently seems to be dominated by women fantasy writers and politics. Looking back over my life, I've always paid more attention to Science Fiction than fantasy, I've steered clear of politics wholesale, and most of my favorite authors were male (notable exceptions, Octavia Butler and Nancy Kress) I haven't delved to far into Feminisms, so this isn't a judgement of my self (yet), just an observation.

I watched the latest Harry Potter movie. I think I'm destined to read these books. It follows my current reading habits, and I'm sure I'll enjoy them. I sure enjoyed the movie last night--Much darker, and I love time travel that embraces paradoxes, instead of attempting to explain them. Read Heinlein's 'By His Bootstraps' And the map. Gotta love the map.

I'd love to see a network take a book like harry potter and make it a television series. The events in the book could provide the overall story arc for a season, but the individual episodes could deal with all sorts of other things. That's vague and doesn't sound all that much like an orginal thought now that its all typed out. Oh well. Back to work.
