I'm a web developer for NOVICA. I'm fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English and a little Spanish. I can count in Korean and have numerous language and linguistics books. I'm living within walking distance of CSUN where I share an apartment with my girlfriend and 2 cats. I'm happy. I write sporadically (I really need to finish that short story), with every intention of making a living at it at an undisclosed point in the future. I taught physics at Emperor's College Winter Term 2008. I love games and stories and music and computers and science and "and." I drink my coffee 100% black 80% of the time and 80% black 20% of the time. Also, there are other things. 7332 42

Smart People

Warning -- I'm writing this entry to wallow in self pity, but it's what's on my mind, so deal.

I left work today, and went to my new favorite coffee shop, the Unurban on Pico. My plan was to read Bayesian Data Analysis and drink some coffee.

I wasn't far into the first chapter before things started to seem oddly familiar. There's definitely some similarities between the probablility notation used in the book, and what's used for Quantum Mechanics. I'm not saying I understand any of it, but it looks a lot like things I struggled with in college.

I started thinking. The women I've loved are way smarter than I am. Jamie's a TA in Organic Chemistry at UCLA, if she hasn't gotten her phd already. Liz just told me that her title at work is now physicist. And that's pretty much that. Short list.

I don't think I've seen the last of my Bayesian text, but I'm going to give everything I didn't understand a few days to sink in. I took notes.

I guess I'll sleep. I'm good at that.
