I am hereby calling for an immediate moratorium a pain-of-death cease-and-desist on using the word "vigilant." I'm glad everyone is being "vigilant," but please, for the love of all that may or may not be holy, stop saying it. Stop. Some people don't know what it means, and might get confused with that other word it's awfully damn close to. Yes, that one: vigilante.

This is the most overused word on the planet right now and it essentially means, we're being aware. Well, um, I thought that was your job. Me, I will be oblivious as long as the use of this word persists.

Please, stop. Just stop. I'm begging.
