SARS

Meanwhile, Charles Murtaugh has a thorough, excellent overview of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

He notes, among other things, that it doesn't appear as virulent or dangerous as many originally thought, that the outbreak is yet another object lesson in how interconnected and interdependent the global village is becoming, and that the Chinese government sucks (which we already knew, didn't we?). They've covered up, lied, and stone-walled...all to the risk not only of their own people, but of hundreds of nations around the world. And:

As of a few days ago, China was still barring World Health Organization experts from visiting Guangdong Province, where the disease is thought to have originated.

Anyway, if there's anything you wanted to know about SARS, Murtaugh is the man to visit.
