Man-Eggs

No, this isn't about a euphemism...I'm talking about the possibility of men making oocytes. Or rather, Charles Murtaugh, discussing the recent research on mouse stem cells, is:

Rich Hailey notes one of the possible applications, could this be done with human ES cells: generating eggs for IVF. Of course, the practical and ethical hurdles are formidable -- to begin with, one would have to produce the human ES cells by embryo cloning, which a lot of people don't like. But it gets weirder, as Rich notes:

[I]t could be possible for a man to produce viable eggs for one thing. . . [T]wo same sex parents could have offspring which is a genetic blend of both of them, just like a traditional baby. Think about it; Chuck and Bill can have a baby and both of them would be biological parents.

That's right, those eggs are from a man, baby -- or at least, from a male mouse.

A few tweaks here and there, and men will be able to grow their own wombs...then we might not need women anymore, at least for reproduction.

I'm going to go hide out in the bunker now as the barbs and raw eggs fling this way and that.
