My writers group met last night, but we only had a couple of stories, so the meeting didn't run that long. As usual, Jerry's wife cooked some of those wicked chocolate/butterscotch chip cookies to munch on while we critted. She is both an evil and wondrous woman, all at the same time.

Anyway, I went home and got some work done on my new story. It'll be nice to have a new SF story, since the last few have all been horror. It was a nice little run, but I think I've got it out of my system for now. Horror's fun to write, though, so I'm not swearing it off completely.

Also, I started a new rejection folder (my old one finally filled to capacity). I've been submitting regularly for five years now (my first logged rejection was from The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, November 1998, about a young woman with psychic powers who can suck matter into her mind and store it. During an attempted date rape, she pulls a whole guy into her mindscape and keeps him there for nearly twenty years. I thought it was a good story, but it still hasn't sold. I keep submitting it, though.)

Anyway, here's hoping the next five years bring a higher ratio of acceptances to rejections...and that I finally sell that story.
