"Under God" Challenged Legally Again
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

Yep...you guys have heard me blog about this before. Looks like Michael Newdow is at it again, although this time he doesn't have to worry about legal standing (he's not defending his daughter this time, but a group of parents and children), and he's also not just going after "under god" in the Pledge of Allegiance, but "In god we trust" as the national motto.

Chris Bell is doing a whole series on the case, which I believe is now under deliberation by the three judges of the 9th Circuit Court.

I know a lot of people think it's trivial, but strangely, those seem to be the many of the same people fighting savagely to keep mention of god in governmental oaths and ceremonies. The decision should be interesting no matter which way it goes, especially in an election year. Actually, a decision for Newdow would probably end up hurting the Democrats and helping Republicans, but you never know.

Either way, I'll be keeping my eye on this one, but you can bet yer butts that it'll be in the news, and all hell will break out, especially if it goes Newdow's way.
