Holy Shit: Train Derailed and Acid Spilled
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

I was out grocery shopping this morning when I first heard about this:

Lafayete, Louisiana

State Police say six cars derailed and two are leaking hydrochloric acid, alcohol and ethylene oxide.

Evacuations are mandatory for those who live within a one mile radius of the overpass, located at Ambassador Caffery and Cameron Streets. This effects about 3,000 Lafayette residents. They tell you to prepare to stay out of your home for 48 hours.

I'm not actually in the evacuation area, but my apartment is about a quarter-mile from the edge of the evacuation area. It's a nice, sunny day, and people are walking around in my apartment complex like nothing's going on.

I don't know which way the wind is blowing either...so, I might just go on a little field trip away from the spill site.
