Eric Mayer Byzantine Blog Probably the only vaguely interesting thing about me is that with my wife, Mary Reed, I co-author the John the Eunuch mystery series set in sixth century Constantinople. But that doesn't stop me from dwelling here on the boring minutiae of the rest of my life, present and past, along with the occasional word about writing. |

Our website is the recipient of the Preditors & Editors' Author's Site of Excellence for November 2005.If you don't already know, Preditors & Editors is the essential resource for vetting publishers and agents, a necessity for those of us who write since there seems to be more money to be made by ripping off aspiring authors than by selling writing. There's a lot of disinformation flying around the writing world. There are plenty of self-styled writers and agents and instructors ready with advice, ready to explain how things work, what they've done to achieve their success, recommend markets, etc etc. Before Mary or I take anything we read to heart we like to evaluate the information by checking out the writers, markets, publishers and agents involved on Preditors & Editors.
