not just because I'm biased

Just returned from beautiful Arcosanti. It was an amazing day. If I had a camper or tent, or room I would have been there all three days. We were successful beyond our wildest expectations. We faced the Phoenix and defending champion Prescott in our semi bout, and Suzy, Logan, Dom and myself were able to pull off a surprise. Mesa beat out host Arcosanti and Tucson in the other semi. We faced a much more experienced Mesa Team featuring Corbet Dean, Taneka Stotts, Eirean Bradley and Just Trish, and lost 112.4 to 110. That is an average of 0.6 per poem. Not bad for a bunch of newbies. It was our first bouts as a team, and under the guidance of John Kofonow, our coach, we were able to do really well. Now I must memorize my pieces. I think we earned a lot of respect today. We have probably one of the more diverse teams in slam. Not just in ethnicity and gender, but in our styles. Also, we are pretty damn cute.
