Crosby started a reading called The Imaginary Garden Society in 1995 at a cafe called Java Central. He then started a companion reading at the Enigma Garden Cafe which was owned by Julie Brewer. He handed down the Java Central reading to Eavonka Ettinger, and the Enigma reading to Mike Kruis. Crosby and Figler for the better part of a few years brought in poets from out of town. Figler brought in Slam poets. He started getting into slam in 1994 after winning a slam for the privilege of reading on the stage of Sam Boyd Stadium. He beat out a few seasoned slam poets, and got to read before the Beastie Boys set at Lollapalooza 4's kick off show. 10,000 people were treated to Dayvid's wit. In Vegas Poets 4- Enter Danna Botwick In Vegas Poets 5- Karen and Slam In Vegas Poets 6 Cabal and Bridge In Vegas Poets 7- Vegas on a national level |
