On Monday I went to a Faculty workshop on Problem Based Learning. Essentially, PBL is groupwork with the task being to solve a problem or specifically to find methods of solving the problem. Our example that we worked with was a legal case involving a drunk driving accident, and we had to take the role of prosecutor, defense attorney, defendant, and victim and then discuss what sort of information we would need and how we could get it.

I am not sure I could apply it anytime soon to my composition course, but maybe later. That evening I was 10 minutes late for my 7 p.m. Weekly class. I made the mistake of trying to park closer to to the building and there was a surge of people parking for a UNLV Basketball game. However my class was great. The students were engaged and loved the material and stayed focused and involved the whole way through. It was the best class I had ever taught in my 2 and 1/2 years of teaching. It felt effortless. The discussion was fun and thoughtful. The next day, tho, my TR morning class was a downer. Few had read the materials. I announced that we'd have a quiz Thursday, and still I can tell that many have not read the book. On the bright side, I read two Taylor Mali Poems to my morning class today, and one student came up and asked who they were by. Unfortunately, she is dropping the class because She is going to NAU to study Elementary Education. I mean unfortunate for me, not for her. I wish her well.

I also attended a workshop on Time Management.

My big crime is Procrastination. Common.
