Fall 2003 Grading System notes

Paper 1=10 Points
Paper 2=10 Points
paper 3= 10 points
paper 4= 20 points
Quizzes= 10 points
Attendance= 10 points
Mid Term= 10 points
Presentation= 10 points (English A=Final Exam)
Class Participation/Journal 10 Points

All three of the first papers are eligible for revision credit if you turn them in on time.

10= Excellent on content and writing- Goes beyond criteria
9= Excellent essay in most ways. Meets criteria
perhaps contains a few flaws or areas that need improvement

8= A good essay that contains a number of flaws

7= An essay that meets criteria, but contains many flaws

6= an essay that falls short of criteria, contains numerous flaws
5(or lower) = An essay that does not meet or address criteria, handed in late

All essays must be handed in on time to be eligible for revision reassessment. That is... if you got a zero... you can not change that zero
Final Point Translation

93-100 A
90-92 A-
87-89 B+
83-86 B
80-82 B-
77-79 C+
73-76 C
70-72 C-
67-69 D+
63-66 D
60-62 D-
59 or lower F

Attendance: There will be a roll sheet passed around at the beginning of class. Once I collect it, anyone who did not sign in is absent. If I notice a discrepancy between names signed in and people in the class, I will give a pop quiz. If you did not sign in... you must come see me and sign in under the tardy list so you don't get marked absent. If people leave early, they could be marked tardy by me and miss a pop quiz.

The attendance grade is different than attendance policy... but in essence

Every time you are tardy it will count against you

9/15 Turn in paper 1
9/30 turn in paper 2
10/20 Turn in paper 3 (Prospectus and Annotated Bibliography
11/11 Turn in paper 4
12/1 Turn in Portfolios with revisions
