Papers—This rubric will apply to all your papers, although it will change depending on your assignment. Content/originality/ style/substance/ critical inquiry & Insight, _____________ (20) Organization- paragraph, essay, sentence, thesis, cohesion, Transitions, flow,____________ (20) Formatting-MLA works cited,in-text citation, Layout Neatness ,______________ (20) Development: Length, proper quoting and Paraphrasing, incorporating sources, ____________ ( 20) Grammar. Punctuation, mechanics, conventions of language, _____________ (20) 18-20—excellent, nearly flawless, far exceeds expectations, Breathtakingly original 16-17—good, some errors but none that are distracting, exceeds expectations 14-15- Okay, may have numerous errors, adequately fulfilled assignment, thesis is apparent but unoriginal, clichés abound. 12-13 Inadequate, numerous errors, difficulty in comprehending subject, no clear thesis 11- Below: Although the points generally add up to your grade, I reserve the right to award your final grade if I deem any deficiency in any area brings down the quality of the work for that assignment. A paper that fails in any category will not earn more than a C. A Paper that earns a D in any category will not earn more than a B. A paper suspected of plagiarism will get an F. Late Papers: 50% off with no revision points possible. |
