2007-12-02 12:00 PM Sad? Because I live alone and because I celebrate Christmas at other peoples' homes, and because I don't entertain during the Season, and because of a bazillion other reasons, I haven't unleashed my decorations in a long while, nor have I installed a tree.
Tonight is Lessons and Carols at the university in All Saint's Chapel - a chapel that rivals the finest cathedrals in Europe. It's a beautiful service on the mountain with trumpeted tradition. It’s considered to be world renowned, but Tammy’s Taffy Pull over in Altamont is probably also considered world renowned. I was laid up in bed last year with two slipped discs so couldn't attend. This year I’m intentionally choosing not to go. It’s not that I’m into ugly, but too much beauty during this time of year makes me sad and wistful with longing and teary and homesick for days when my children were little and Christmas was still magical. Anyway, I guess I’m not really sad, because I love to give gifts and am offering one to all takers. I think I just read my last book. Actually I’m still reading it. I hate the title: Eat Pray Love. But I adore the book, even worship it. It’s written by Elizabeth Gilbert. It’s the most brilliant book I’ve ever read. When I finish I will start it all over again and again and again. It’s the best book I’ve ever read. Might be the last book I ever read. I think I am repeating myself myself. Okay, so the passionate artist in me is speaking with big hyperbole. I want to give this book as a gift to anyone who is interested. Send me an email with a mailing address and I will send you a copy. I want to spread the word according to Groceries (inside joke between Gilbert & moi). This is my holiday (do I dare say Christmas anymore) gift to anyone who would like to receive it. Don't let me down here! Send me those emails. :) xoxo Read/Post Comments (8) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
