Today has been insanely busy… but with good stuff. It was a treat to meet up with a good friend whom I’ve not seen all summer. Her sister lives in Nashville and is terminally ill with cancer. I know her sister – spent New Year’s Eve 2007 in retreat with her at St. Mary’s. Sad.

Momentarily putting our sorrows aside, Ellen and I gabbed and planned some of our volunteer hospitality for this next weekend at a retreat we’re both attending at St. Mary’s. The retreat’s theme is Befriending Life: The Practice of Lovingkindness. This is what the brochure says about the weekend and the question at heart: Will you engage this moment with kindness or with cruelty, with love or with fear, with generosity or with scarcity, with a joyous heart or an embittered one? This retreat helps to choose rightly, opting for lovingkindness again and again, drawing from many religious perspectives as an interspiritual exploration of compassion, the core value of all authentic religious practice. The presenter is Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro, award winning author and poet.

Hmmm. I guess I shouldn’t have commented like I did about lala’s ex’s penis. Nah, I meant it. Heh.

Anyway, below are two pics with captions.

I swear, this picture taking odyssey has already been a rude wake-up call for me. :)))))))))))))))) I wish JS had audio - you should hear me laughing!
