Family businesses are the worst kinds, from everyone that's ever told me about them.

In one such nefarious construct, one of the partners, a wastrel who consistantly frittered away his family earnings into shiny objects of no use and short interest, went bankrupt and had to sell his portion of the company in court. I imagined the additional sufferning that would cause that would cause his children.

But sometimes people do things that make you have some faith in mankind.

One of the other partner's wives, bought the portion of the family company, at considerable expense even from bankrupcy court, and proceeded to start paying the children the revenues from the share of the company. The children still benefit, moreso than before, as their father can't spend it before it gets to them.

But the even more amazing thing is she did it with no strings attached. They can do whatever they want with the money, and are free to give the money to their dad if they choose. It's entirely up to them.

They are spending it on schooling.

This selfless behavior on behalf of in-laws is truely remarkable, and I wish nothing but the best for her. I'm not sure I'd have the goodwill or moral fortitude to do that myself.

Truely a wonderful act.
