I'm a big fan of common courtesy.

It wont change the world, but it also wont make it more anxious and unhappy.

Common courtesy is a way of acknowledging there is a world outside you, and that others have feelings worth considering.

Being quiet in the movies, turning off your cel in a restaurant, saying "please" and "thank you" to people helping you in a store, even holding the door open for person behind you so they don't get smacked in the face, all little things you can do to make the world more civilized.

I know I can't offset all the self-centered people in the world by myself, but I'm not going to make it worse.

So, I'll continue appreciating the wait staff who tirelessly serves me at a restaurant, or letting the person who bothers to signal have enough room to change lanes, and wait my turn in line at the post office without trying to cut in line.

It's not a lot, but it's important.
