I'm tired of being treated like a potential criminal by a billion dollar industry that's been taking advantage of its customers for years.

Remember when CDs came out? We were told that they'd be cheaper than vinyl, since the manufacturing costs were less. Heck, I didn't even care about that, if the artists actually got a bigger percentage of the profits.

But instead, we got more expensive music, and less diversity in music from the big companies.

Screw that.

This is not about pirating. I'm not going to do that and take advantage of the artists.

This is about getting good independant music and getting more money to the actual producers of art.

CD Baby is going to get my business for a long time now. Their catalog is deep, they have a lot of genres of interesting music you can't find other places, and their service is quite good. And I like the idea of getting a bigger percentage of proceeds to the actual people creating the content I'm listening to.

There is a whole world of musical artists as good or better than anything the major labels have to offer waiting to be heard. It's about time we started checking them out.
