They, the all-knowing collective of wisdom, myth and information (much of it false), say there are cat people and dog people.

Dog people love the companionship and loyalty of a dog, and its need for attention and affection.

Cat people love the independance of the animal, and its much more ambivalent relationship with humans.

I've got a pretty soft spot for animals in general, but I generally like to think of myself as a cat person, especially in an urban area where I wouldn't have the room that dogs need anyway. I like the idea that cats can like you, but they don't always need you. They can be content on their own a lot, or even most of the time.

But the more I think about it, the more I've come to the realization that I'm the one that needs the constant attention and affection.

So I guess I'm actually a dog-person, who's also a cat person.
