What I have to keep reminding myself is that we don't always get what we want.

We even don't always get what we deserve.

We just get a mixed bag, just like everyone else, and we have to make the most of it while we can. Enjoy the good while it lasts, and try to at least learn from the not-so-good.

We'll make mistakes, and screw up regularly, but we have to keep trying.

I haven't really thought about this prayer in ages, not being the organized religion type but I could do well to keep it in mind:

God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
