I've always been a fan of noir. I loved those dark worlds of Raymond Chandler, Veronica Lake, Daschiell Hammett, Robert Mitchum, John Huston, Billy Wilder and the like, where everything was shadowy, no one was without sin, and sometimes the best thing you could do would be to sacrifice yourself so someone could not go down with you.

There was a cadence to the dialog, a sharpness to every character, from the icy queen women to the rookie cop.

And in the films. The harsh glow of the spotlight, the deep blacks of darkness. The best use of black and white film perhaps ever.

Sin City was pretty fricken' awesome.
