Happy 25th birthday to Pac-Man!

First Pong, then Pac-Man, created a whole industry of video games, and during their times, indroduced millions and millions of people to entertaining, addictive entertainment for all ages.

Pac-Man was simple to play, and nearly impossible to master, with a clever little idea never seen before, capturing adults and kids alike. It sparked a great age of video games based on new and innovated ideas, not just first-person shooters and beat-em-ups.

There was a whole range of goofy game ideas, some great, some terrible, but at least they were trying different things, testing out the market while it was in its infancy.

I was never good at it, and much prefered Dig Dug, but I knew even then that Pac-Man was the start of something big.

I don't think anyone realized just how big.
