Nearing the end

I am wrestling with the final climactic battle seen in the novel right now. In another 500 words I'll be breaking 70,000 words.

Which is cool, but is nowhere near 80,000 words, which is originally what I was aiming for. I think TRH is turning out to be 72-74 thousand words instead.

While I'm excited to just have the wordage on the page so far, even more exciting to me is how I've been able to MAKE myself write in the past month even when I'm tired, even after the girls are in bed, even during a short thirty minute break when Maika's napping and I still have laundry to do, and even when I get up five times in twenty minutes to fix myself tea, peanut butter toast, etc.

I think I am finally breaking free of the "I can only write if..." zone to the "I'll write despite..." zone.

Which isn't as much "fun" per se, but does result in more writing.

And that's what its all about, right?
