Digging

I've spent the last three days digging more than I have in the past five years.

Day one: Dig a hole for the new ornamental plum tree I bought. It's been my dream to have these flowering trees in my own yard for a long time. Now I just need to save up for the fake japanese stone lantern and cherry tree for in front of the house.

Day two: Dig out about 300 square feet of garden and plant corn, green onions, carrots, and thyme and spearmint to try to keep away the slugs. (a neighbor friend inherited a huge vegetable garden with her new house, I'm helping for the selfish reason of getting vegetables!)

Day three: Dig out two garden plots from the stony and weed infested area behind girl1's Japanese preschool so they can have gardens for the kids.

For someone who knows like NOTHING about gardening (the slugs ate my daikon last year, sob) I've been doing alot of it since spring started.
