Six

Girl1 is about to turn six (on Monday, actually, although the party is Sunday afternoon at Conestoga recreation center)

What to say about girl1 on this occasion?

We watched videos from when she was three years old recently, and I had an almost physical memory of holding her in my arms. So small, so joyous, so energetic.

She is growing into a young girl now. She refused to bow to parental will for the first times this past year, and more of her own personal preference in food, clothes, and activities is coming out.

She's growing into a super dooper looper swimmer at Children of the Sea, and I'm also proud of her piano skills.

But actually, I think the thing I most appreciate in girl1 is her gentleness. Teachers in multiple schools have told me how she likes to make peace and to be friendly to others. And I fear that her natural inclination to follow others' lead will result in her losing that precious part of herself, but I am hoping for the best.

My little kindergartner. She's still my little bird.

Happy Birthday, Girl1.
