2008 Books #69 A Room on Lorelei Street

I looked up Mary Pearson's other books because I enjoyed The Adoration of Jenna Fox so much.

A Room on Lorelei Street does not disappoint.

Any seventeen year old girl with an alcoholic mother and a dead father might be able to refute me, but goodness the protagonist of this books is CONVINCING.

Mary Pearson lets you into the choices a "bad" girl like Zoe makes, shows the frustrations, the helplessness, the yearning for what she can't have, that leads to sexual promiscuity and "bad" behavior in school.

I found myself reading this remembering, uncomfortably, what opinions I'd held of several girls in High School.

Recommended.
