People complain about musicals.
They say:

Nobody just stops in the street
and breaks into song.

I say you know the wrong people.

ILY: Location

I've started talking with the owners of the factory where I want to shoot I LOVE YOU, I'M SORRY, AND I'LL NEVER DO IT AGAIN. My guess is their aversion to exposure to liability will best their interest in helping me make a cool film.

So although I'm kind of in love with this location, I've begun looking for alternatives. I've emailed Silvercup Studios, which is walking distance from my day job. My suspicion is they'll be too expensive for us, but you never know. Music studios will book you for cheap during their off hours; maybe movie studios are the same.

If neither the real factory nor the real studio will work with my budget, I'll need a big empty space for a week this Fall or Winter. Warehouse, airplane hangar, uninhabited building.... Someplace where I can bring in flats, a couple of desks, lights, cameras, and a dozen people.

It doesn't have to have any particular look; just space. 50x50 should work. Bigger is better; smaller's not out of the question. If you know of such a space within 50 miles of NYC--or know a trick for this kind of thing--drop me a line.

This is the first major obstacle. There will be more.
