Ethics of Entertainment

Those of you who subscribe to the CREDO blog know we're screening as part of The Ethics of Entertainment, a conference and film festival being presented by the Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics at Arizona State University.

Between my interest in that subject and my need to do research about Arizona in the 1950s, I'm keenly tempted to go. I'll even have sufficient husband points accrued by that time, since Kathleen's off in London, training people to do something or other as part of her new job, and the boys have colds, so I got an hour of sleep last night.

So... I'm thinking about it. On the one hand, I'm interested in the ethics of entertainment. On the other hand, it's an expense I wasn't planning on. On the third hand, one never knows who one would have connected with, had one only left the house when it seemed impractical.

On the fourth hand, if I stayed a few days, I could possibly gather source material for the current novel.

On the fifth hand, that means losing a few days' pay, plus airfare, plus lodging and transportation.

It's generally a good idea to end any writing with some sort of conclusion. Therefore, I hereby conclude that despite my odd number of hands, I have no idea what I'm doing.
