2005 novel word count

20,081.

This is an absolutely pathetic number, and there is no excuse for it.

I can make some good-sounding ones (newborn twins, sleep deprivation, MS episodes, film politics, film production time, babycare time, day job time), and point to some poems and short pieces, but none of them change these facts:

  1. Life ends.
  2. We don't know when.
  3. Anything undone at that point goes in the permanent failure column.

2006 will be different.

Nobody's indestructible, but health is like money. It's only as good as what you spend it on.
