People complain about musicals.
They say:

Nobody just stops in the street
and breaks into song.

I say you know the wrong people.

ILY minus 13 days and counting

Journal entries with ILY in the titles are about the short screen musical
I LOVE YOU, I'M SORRY, AND I'LL NEVER DO IT AGAIN,
currently in pre-production.

Blake has been forced to back out of the production. We are both saddened and disappointed.

He gave me a few days' advance notice, so our casting notice for THUG #1 went up on SAGindie.org on Wednesday.

I started receiving résumés and headshots immediately after it posted. After he called today with the final "No," I emailed my top candidates. We don't have an audition date and location yet, but I like people to be informed and prepared, so I sent them the script and an MP3 of the soundtrack. I'll get back in touch with them when I've heard back from Greg Daniels, our new choreographer, regarding when he can be present for auditions.

The rough-outline shooting schedule is continuing to grow. You may notice the words "Larry BLACK" on Friday and Saturday. INFERTILITY: THE MUSICAL THAT'S HARD TO CONCEIVE is closing, and those are the last two nights of its run. (Larry's thoughts about it are here.)

I have a phone appointment with Dave the DP tomorrow at 11AM to work out more of the shooting schedule, so today's Starbucks task is to assemble a shot-by-shot still-image storyboard from the video storyboard I've put together from rehearsal and location-scouting footage.

Onward.
