Last night, Greg saved the occupants of the local Starbucks from a beligerent, drunk (redundant?) transient. It was a prolonged transaction, with Greg walking the guy out of the building twice. We were all very grateful for his efforts. I explained to one of the baristas that Greg had worked retail near a VA hospital in West Los Angeles, and Tempe doesn't really have anything new to throw his way. Three cheers for the defender of the right to sip hot chocolate in peace! I hope that the transient didn't represent the future of one of my former students. The last few weeks before Spring Break were quite stressful with regards to a certain student who was, quite frankly, mentally disturbed. His behavior was distracting to the class and he was attempting to follow my young female students out of the classroom at the end of lab. The chair of my department decided to get security involved, but the student didn't show up last week. Turns out that he was hospitalized for his behavior by his family and won't be returning this semester. I hope that he gets the help that he needs now, before he turns into a loud, drunk transient in a Starbucks with nowhere to go. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
