Fitzcarraldo

Over the weekend I watched a German movie called "Fitzcarraldo". It's about this guy back in the early 20th century who has the grand dream of building an opera house in the middle of the amazon jungle. You can imagine the obstacles that ensue as he deals with an amateur crew, a "hostile" environment, and of course the natives.

I love how the movie was paced, and the climax with Fitzcarraldo actually trying to "move a mountain" in a matter of speaking, is great.

I went into it without any preconceived notions as to what to expect. My non-expectations were pleasantly exceeded. I highly recommend this movie.

Oh yes, and a confirmed crush on this one.
Italian actress (and co-star in "Fitz") Claudia Cardinale
