postcards from postpartum land

I'm still here, cocooning with the RB. She's eight days old, slept a six hour stretch again last night, and I'm wearing non-maternity jeans (albeit one of my larger pairs). Cheers! On the other hand, she insisted on snacking all afternoon. Jeers!

It's amazing how soft baby feet are--and why not? No mileage.

When babies bend their knees into that frog-crouch position, their legs form the shape of a heart.

C likes to hold the baby but when she's had enough she says, "I'm all done with this."

R has been doing the bulk of the tending to C, and I miss her a lot.

I've been peed on three times.

We had the hip ultrasound yesterday. The doctor (radiologist?) said M has a very mild dysplasia; she was unable to get the hip to dislocate, which is a good sign, but the left hip socket is not quite as rounded as it should be. It will be up to an orthopedist to determine whether we put her in a brace, or just keep an eye on it. Yes, M is eight days old and she already has four doctors.

I have a very modest to-do list, and am limiting myself to one thing a day. Today, I wrote thank you notes. That's all I accomplished aside from keeping my daughter alive for another day, and I'm pretty OK with that.

I do miss writing though. All in good time.
