The Vortex, September edition

Welcome to September! It's my favorite month, because it signals a return to sweater weather, and it's my birth month to boot. Last night was a crisp one, as if September decided to ignore our non-summer and move right ahead with autumn. I'm cool with it.

I've been in the cafe for the last 4 hours, revising business plans and forms, checking email, and organizing/culling folders on the computer. Anything I can do to be ready to work in the fall is important work. And since i have but one massage scheduled today, I am happy to be making this productive use of my time.

Remember in school, when they would put that on your report card? "Makes productive use of her time" - I can't remember if I got that one or not. I know I got the related comment regarding "not working up to her potential". The burden of that statement has haunted me all my life. 'nuff said there.

My new business goals are:
- distribute massage business brochures to potential referring agencies and practitioners
- update massage forms so they can be posted on my website; this way clients can type up their forms and either email them to me or bring them to the first appointment, saving us time
- print new business cards
- fill out and submit the L&I and preferred provider forms, so I can eventually take insurance work
- find out about doing chair massage at the Vashon Growers' Saturday Markets

These seem entirely do-able. Anyone think of other things I should be doing? I need 2 massages a week to make my budget. I am happy that I had the opportunity to massage a personal trainer from Vashon yesterday; she took a business card and I hope will tell people about the enjoyable massage I provided.

I have a swollen finger. I bit my nails and got a boo-boo. My fault.

The sun has come out and I'm feeling perky. This is a good thing. I wonder how people do this more often than not?

Roommate search goes on. I know the space is small, and I know I need to put photos of the actual room on my CL ad. So far, three inquiries, two no-thanks, and one visitor. Go to my ad and tell me how to make it better (I think this URL will work): http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/roo/818210172.html

I'm looking forward to strong wi-fi in my house, watching computer TV while I do housework, and LOVING UP MY KITTIES!
