Birthday hijinx:

Karyssa and I hiked to Ship Peak (900 feet in 1.3 miles - wow, but the view was great!). I forgot my camera, so no pics. But I will see it in my mind forever. It's cool to see the farmland spread out below us, and Mt. Constitution in the distance.

My friend Tessa made me a fabulous chocolate torte and then friends showed up and ate it with me. It's a good day. I have cried twice, because I am grateful, lonely, blessed, scared and on the cusp of new things.

Not sure what I'm doing the rest of the day. I kind of want to go to dinner, I kind of want a nap, I kind of want to read my book, and I kind of want to cry.

You know how that goes.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. I don't usually feel the need to make a big deal of it, but these friends of mine made it into something special. More pics when James emails them to me.
