me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Yellow

The light by the river was odd this morning. Heavy but high dark clouds, white ones below (both the fluffy kind, and the thin) and an extremely fine fog, almost invisible. The result was a softening of all colors except yellow. A helicopter flying north, a ferry bouncing across, the emergency phone down the pier, a truck on the opposite bank, all glowed. Everything else, including a green helicopter and a red tug, as well as the clothing on the joggers (and the jackets on their dogs) was washed in a very pale gray.

I've been sleeping nine hours a night and taking two hour naps. I think this is as much emotional as physical. I go to Northampton and Boston tomorrow, back Weds., after which I'm getting back to work on the new book. Have been focussing in on it, had a few ideas, which is good. Ready to stop this marketing, though I enjoy it, and get back to writing, which is after all the point.
