me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Olympics

I wasn't in favor of the Olympics coming to NY, though I wasn't as totally opposed to them as I was to the damn fool stadium they claimed we had to have if we had any chance of getting them. Still, I'm glad it's not happening. It seemed to me it would have been a three-week, five-borough version of the security and traffic migraine the Republican convention gave us. And one way and another it would have been a net loss and cost us money, as the Republican convention did.

According to my nephew Dan, though, no city's ever gotten the games on their first bid, but they often get chosen on the second. It could well happen in 2016. By that time we might have 3 new stadiums -- Yanks, Mets, and possibly the Nets in Brooklyn. Maybe even the new Madison Square Garden. Mayor Mike won't get the glory, but hey, that's how it goes.
