sjrozan I'm a writer, at work on my 11th book. This blog is a record of random and less-random thoughts. If you want to know more about me, check my website, linked here. I also had a blog going from spring through late fall 2004 about the publishing process for my 9th book, ABSENT FRIENDS. That blog's called "Progress" and you can find the link here. I won't make any more entries but I'm leaving it up in case anyone's interested; the process is more or less the same from book to book. |

2006-03-09 5:06 PM Sunday NY Times, or, where have I been? I apologize for my absence from the blogoshpere for the last few days. I did have river and bird reports for you, but something came up: the City Section of the NY Times called Tuesday morning to ask if I would give them 1,000 words for this Sunday, due today, Thursday, mid-day. Well, that's a tight deadline, but what writer would say no to an offer of a first byline in the New York Times? So I've been researching and writing like crazy, with everything else -- and I mean, EVERYTHING -- on hold.
I finished the piece a few hours ago, and just heard from them: they like it and are planning to run it. In newspapers, of course, you don't count your column-inches before you see them, because you could get pushed off the page by breaking news. But if that doesn't happen, look for me in the City Section, ruminating on the subject of Iconic Crimes. (If you're outside the 5 NYC boroughs, I believe you can read the City Section online.) You're welcome to comment on my ruminations here. Read/Post Comments (8) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
