sjrozan I'm a writer, at work on my 11th book. This blog is a record of random and less-random thoughts. If you want to know more about me, check my website, linked here. I also had a blog going from spring through late fall 2004 about the publishing process for my 9th book, ABSENT FRIENDS. That blog's called "Progress" and you can find the link here. I won't make any more entries but I'm leaving it up in case anyone's interested; the process is more or less the same from book to book. |

2007-04-19 12:57 PM Guns don't kill people, people kill people Yes. Sure. Absolutely. And people with guns kill a hell of a lot more people than people without guns do. This country needs gun control.
Though we're not likely to get it, arrogant cowboys that we are. We're likely to come up with an ever-increasing number of elaborate screening processes, protocols, and lock-'em-up policies for the mentally ill, the unstable, the unsociable, the weird. And as for the argument that more guns, rather than fewer, would help? That "if some of the innocent students at that college had been armed there's a good chance the creep who did this would have been stopped before the body count grew so large"? Well, that worked real well in the West of the 1880's, didn't it? Everyone had a sidearm then, and that was a peaceful, law-abiding time, wasn't it? Of course it damn well wasn't. But it created America's image of ourselves, and it's an image we just love. Read/Post Comments (16) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
